Set Appliance State:
Gas Off
| Isolate Mains Power to appliance as per TOPs P4 |
CH Demand
Remove the top two screws of the combustion chamber and slacken the lower two screws 2-3 turns to allow viewing of the spark electrodes as shown

Observation:
Reset appliance if necessary.
Allow boiler to commence its ignition sequence.
Can a strong, consistent spark be observed at the electrodes for approximately 4 seconds?
Use of a mirror may aid observation if access to the boiler is poor.
Note:
Design of electrodes may differ to that shown depending on boiler serial number, but the test remains the same.
Sparking present
Sparking absent
