Observation:
Remove the head of the zone valve. The head should be easily removed from the body.
Gently move the spindle of the valve body back and forth to check for free movement, very little force should be required to move the valve.
Note: If the valve fitted to the system you are working on lacks a removable head check that at rest the valve closes fully by looking at the indicator lever.
