Set Appliance State:

Isolate Mains Power to appliance as per TOPs P4
Appliance drained and discharged
Remove the integral bypass adjuster

Observation:

It should be possible to inspect the integral bypass from the front of the appliance - gentle pressure on the "cross" should push the valve away from its seating to open it and it should then spring back to the closed position when the pressure is removed.
If the valve does not behave as described it may be necessary to remove the integral bypass valve from the rear of the hydroblock to inspect it - it should look as shown below.
