Set Appliance State:

Set Multimeter to Resistance 
Remove the wires from the fan assembly
Measurement:
Test 1:
Measure the resistance between the live and neutral terminals of the fan assembly.
Expect a resistance of between 25 and 50 ohms.
Test 2:
Measure between the live terminal of the fan assembly and a suitable earth.
Expect a resistance of 1 Mohm or greater.
(O.L is acceptable because this is greater than 1Mohm)
Are the resistances measured as expected?
Notes:
1. Fan shown removed for clarity but test is carried out with it in situ.
2. Fan appearance may differ slightly.
Measure the resistance between the live and neutral terminals of the fan assembly.
Expect a resistance of between 25 and 50 ohms.
Test 2:
Measure between the live terminal of the fan assembly and a suitable earth.
Expect a resistance of 1 Mohm or greater.
(O.L is acceptable because this is greater than 1Mohm)
Are the resistances measured as expected?

Isolate as per TOPs P4
and refit as necessary
