Set Appliance State:

Isolate Mains Power to appliance as per TOPs P4
Set Multimeter to Resistance Set meter to measure resistance
Disconnect the spark electrode lead from the electrode and from the generator

Measurement:

Measure resistance from each end of the spark electrode lead.
Short circuit expected.
