Set Appliance State:

Set Multimeter to Resistance 
Measurement:
Measure resistance between the two white leads that run from the overheat thermostat to the gas valve.
Note:
One lead is connected to the base of the gas valve; the other is connected to the interrupter plate where the thermocouple is connected to the gas valve.
Place probes in the gap where the sheathing ends and the core of the leads are exposed.
Note:
Boiler should be below overheat temperature (95 degrees C).
