Set Appliance State:

Isolate Mains Power to appliance as per TOPs P4
Set Multimeter to DC Volts Set meter to measure DC Volts
Unclip and remove the battery at the back of the timer

Measurement:

Measure the voltage across the battery.
Voltage should be 3V DC or greater.
