Set Appliance State:

Set Multimeter to DC Volts 
Turn Hot Water Tap On
Gain access to PCB (use Insulation Mat as required)

Measurement:
Measure for DC voltage across pin 8 of connector X20 and a suitable earth connection.
Expected voltage > 0.9Vdc (see note).
Note.
The greater the flow rate, the greater the voltage measured, typical value with tap fully open 2.0 - 3.0 Vdc.
