Observation:
Allow the pump to run.
Press on the centre screw of the pump until it makes contact with the impeller (a grinding noise will be heard).
The pump impeller should be able to resist a reasonable pressure without stopping (indicating a strong pump).
The pitch of the grinding noise will help indicate how fast the pump is running, it should be high pitched (indicating a fast running pump).
Is the pump strong and running fast?
