Set Appliance State:

Set Multimeter to Resistance Set meter to measure resistance
Isolate Mains Power to appliance as per TOPs P4

Measurement:

Thoroughly check the electrode for any damage to the ceramic insulation, signs of shorting and general condition.
Carry out a resistance check between the ends of the electrode.
Resistance should be short circuit.
