Observation:
Test 1. Apply a CH demand.
Inspect the diverter valve motor, does it move to the fully extended position during a heating demand?
Test 2. Turn a hot water tap ON.
Does the motor now move to the fully retracted position?

Location is behind the condensate trap, an inspection mirror may help with observation.
