Set Appliance State:

Set Multimeter to Resistance 
Measurement:
If there is not a mechanical timer fitted to the appliance then select that option below.
If a mechanical timer is fitted, remove the timer and measure the resistance between the yellow and orange wires (top left of the row of 4 pins as shown in the picture).
Resistance should be above 1M Ohm.
Notes:
Take care not to short the probes or partially touch another pin as an incorrect reading will be given. Wedging the harness into the gap above the timer housing as shown can make it easier to get a good connection.
