Set Appliance State:

Set Multimeter to AC Volts 
Remove the cover from the pump assembly

Measurement:
Measure the AC voltage between the live and neutral wires at the pump assembly.
Expect the mains voltage to the pump to cycle, it should be present for 5 seconds and then absent for 5 seconds, this cycle will be repeated for up to 2 minutes.
Does the voltage to the pump behave as described above?
Note:
It can take up to 20 seconds for the voltage to appear at the pump the first time after power is switched on.

and refit as necessary
