Set Appliance State:
Set Multimeter to Resistance 
Isolate Mains Power to appliance as per TOPs P4
Measurement:
Test 1:
Measure the resistance across the resistor.
Expect approximately 100 ohms.
Test 2:
Now switch the multimeter to the diode setting.

Note:
It is vital that the correct colour probes are used on the test points as indicated in the table above, failure to do so will result in incorrect readings.
