Attach a temperature clamp to the flow pipe just above the overheat stat,
Remove silencer and attach a temperature clamp to the return pipe behind the fan, Refit the silencer
Note:
Ensure a good connection is made with the flow & return pipes
or misdiagnosis will occur and ensure silencer is refitted before carrying out the test

Observation:
Allow the appliance to run for central heating and the system to heat up.
Measure the temperature differential across the flow and return pipes.
Expect a temperature differential of approximately 20°C or less.
