Set Appliance State:

Set Multimeter to Resistance 
Disconnect live and neutral leads from the fan
Measurement:
Test 1:
Measure across the fan terminals.
Expected resistance approximately 25-60 Ohms.
Test 2:
Measure between one of the fan terminals and a suitable earth.
Expect a resistance of 1 Mohm or greater.
Are the resistances measured as expected?
Measure across the fan terminals.
Expected resistance approximately 25-60 Ohms.

Expect a resistance of 1 Mohm or greater.
Are the resistances measured as expected?
Isolate as per TOPs P4
and refit as necessary
