Set Appliance State:

Isolate Mains Power to appliance as per TOPs P4
Set Multimeter to Resistance Set meter to measure resistance
Remove the lead from the spark generator
and the ignition electrode

Measurement:

There should be a resistance of approximately 1kOhm between the ends of the ignition lead.
Check the general condition of the lead.
