Set Appliance State:
| Isolate Mains Power to appliance as per TOPs P4 |
Discharge capacitor before carrying out test (Refer to TOPs P4)
Measurement:
1. Test for shorting (low or zero resistance) between each of the fan & capacitor terminals.
2. Test for shorting between the fan / capacitor terminals to a suitable earth point.
3. Inspect the harnesses running between the PCB / fan / capacitor are in good overall condition and fitted correctly / securely.
4. Set multimeter to capacitance.
Check the capacitance of the capacitor against its badged rating.
For instructions on how to measure capacitance click on Diagnostic+ at the top of this page, select Useful Tools and then click on Using the Multimeter
Note:
Unfortunately as both the fan and capacitor are obsolete parts the lab is not able to provide exact resistance / capacitance readings for this fan.
