Pump is not an integral part of the appliance and will be found elsewhere on the system
Boiler thermostat in Off position
Boiler thermostat in Off position

Observation:
Allow pump to start remove heating demand.
Does the pump stop quickly (i.e. within a second or two)?
If vent plug is removed to ascertain pump running then precautions must be taken to catch water that will escape.

and refit as necessary
