Set Appliance State:

Set Multimeter to Resistance 
Measurement:
Inspect the rectification electrode (electrode by itself) for good overall condition i.e. clean, undistorted and ceramic not cracked.
Measure the resistance across the electrode, expect continuity/zero resistance.
Are the rectification electrode checks satisfactory?
Note:
Electrode assembly must be refitted with a new gasket on reassembly.
