Set Appliance State:
Mains Power Off
Set Multimeter to Resistance 
Isolate Mains Power to appliance as per TOPs P4
Ensure appliance is switched off.
Remove the leads from the solenoid operating coils
Ensure appliance is switched off.
Remove the leads from the solenoid operating coils
Measurement:
Test 1
Measure resistance across one of the solenoid operating coils terminals and note resistance. Reverse the probes and check the resistance across the solenoid coil in the opposite direction.
The resistance obtained should be similar (if not identical) to the previous reading recorded and both readings should be above 1 M ohm.
Test 2
Repeat above test on second solenoid coil.
Replace leads after test.
Measure resistance across one of the solenoid operating coils terminals and note resistance. Reverse the probes and check the resistance across the solenoid coil in the opposite direction.
The resistance obtained should be similar (if not identical) to the previous reading recorded and both readings should be above 1 M ohm.
Test 2
Repeat above test on second solenoid coil.
Replace leads after test.
Isolate as per TOPs P4
and refit as necessary
