Isolate Mains Power to appliance as per TOPs P4
Isolate Water and Gas as appropriate

Location:
The air intake is part of the gas valve, if it cannot be cleared or is damaged then the gas valve will need to be ordered.
Upon completion of the fault diagnostics carry out final electrical safety tests and checks as per TOPs (C6).
